Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs says being selected as the cover athlete for NBA 2K27 is a special moment, especially after growing up playing the game with his family in France.

The Spurs superstar joins an exclusive group of previous cover athletes that includes Michael Jordan, Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Allen Iverson and Luka Doncic.

Looking back on his journey, the player admitted it is still difficult to fully appreciate how much his influence on basketball has grown.

“I know it means a lot culturally, too,” said Wembanyama. “It’s hard to realize for me that I’m taking more and more space, more real estate in the world of basketball, in what basketball means, in professional basketball.”

Over three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, Wembanyama has averaged 23.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 blocks across 181 regular-season games.

He has earned two All-Star selections while winning both the NBA Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards.
