The San Antonio Spurs have agreed to a two-way contract with forward David Jones-Garcia, giving the 24-year-old another opportunity after an impressive season split between the NBA and the G League. NBA insider Michael Scotto reported the agreement on Wednesday.
Jones-Garcia earned the new deal after emerging as one of the G League’s most productive scorers in 2025-26. He averaged 26.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.8 steals per game.
He also made 11 NBA appearances for San Antonio last season. Although his role was limited to 6.2 minutes per game, Jones-Garcia shot an efficient 52.0% from the field and 60.0% from three-point range while averaging 2.9 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.6 assists. His ability to produce efficiently in limited opportunities helped earn another chance within the organization.
The move continues an offseason centered on strengthening the Spurs’ depth after the franchise reached the 2026 NBA Finals. San Antonio finished the regular season with a 62-20 record, second in the Western Conference behind Oklahoma City, before defeating the Trail Blazers, Timberwolves, and Thunder to reach the Finals. The Spurs ultimately fell to the New York Knicks in five games.
San Antonio’s foundation remains intact around Victor Wembanyama, who finished third in MVP voting after averaging 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game while earning Defensive Player of the Year honors. De’Aaron Fox added 18.6 points and 6.2 assists, Stephon Castle averaged 16.7 points and 7.4 assists, and Keldon Johnson captured the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award after contributing 13.2 points per game off the bench.
The organization has also focused on long-term roster stability this summer. Wembanyama signed a five-year maximum rookie extension, while veterans Harrison Barnes and Jordan McLaughlin were retained. The Spurs added veteran forward Tobias Harris in free agency and selected Jayden Quaintance, Tarris Reed Jr., Ja’Kobi Gillespie, and Maliq Brown in the 2026 NBA Draft to reinforce both the frontcourt and backcourt.
Jones-Garcia now joins a competitive wing rotation that includes Devin Vassell, Julian Champagnie, Keldon Johnson, Harrison Barnes, and Tobias Harris.
