Ana Montana, the mother of Minnesota Timberwolves star LaMelo Ball’s son, is facing multiple drug-related charges following her arrest in North Carolina, according to booking records obtained by TMZ.
Montana, whose legal name is Analicia Chaves, was arrested Monday in Mecklenburg County. She faces two felony counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or forgery and two misdemeanor counts of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. Her bond on the felony charges was set at $20,000.
According to the arrest warrant cited by TMZ, authorities allege that Montana obtained alprazolam, the generic version of Xanax, from a Walgreens pharmacy using prescriptions connected to a doctor’s allegedly stolen DEA registration and medical provider identification.
The alleged incident dates to February 21, while the warrant was issued on September 22.
Montana’s attorney provided a different description of the allegations surrounding the prescriptions.
“To clarify, the charges allege that a doctor who used a fraudulent DEA registration and NPI number prescribed Alprazolam for Ms. Chaves, and that she used the prescription written by the doctor to obtain the prescribed Alprazolam at a pharmacy.”
“The drug possession charges appear to allege that she possessed the aforementioned Alprazolam upon obtaining it from the pharmacy via the prescription written by the doctor,” the lawyer added.
Montana and Ball share a son, LaOne, who was born in January 2026. They publicly announced his birth several months later on Mother’s Day.
