Although the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics are still several years away, early predictions are already surfacing regarding which players could represent Team USA.

According to NBC Sports’ Kurt Helin, conversations with scouts, front office executives, and media members have helped identify the leading candidates for the United States’ 12-man roster.

Assuming they remain healthy, Helin considers Anthony Edwards, Tyrese Haliburton, Jayson Tatum, Cade Cunningham, Cooper Flagg, and Bam Adebayo to be virtual locks for the Olympic squad.

He also views Chet Holmgren, Jalen Johnson, and Evan Mobley as strong candidates to earn spots, while describing the rest of the field as more uncertain.

Among the players listed as bubble candidates are Jalen Brunson, Donovan Mitchell, Jaylen Brown, Tyrese Maxey, and Devin Booker.

Kevin Durant also falls into that category, although Helin believes USA Basketball would gladly welcome the four-time Olympic gold medalist if he chooses to compete at 39 years old.
