LeBron James’ unexpected move to the Philadelphia 76ers has sparked immediate speculation about whether the team could also try to acquire his son, Bronny James, from the Los Angeles Lakers.
While previous reporting indicated LeBron’s departure from Los Angeles did not guarantee Bronny would follow, Philadelphia has realistic trade options if it decides to pursue the 21-year-old guard.
One possible framework would send either Dalen Terry or Jabari Walker, along with a future second-round pick, to the Lakers.
Because Bronny will earn $2.3 million next season, matching salaries would not be difficult. Philadelphia would likely need to waive one player afterward to remain below the first apron.
For Los Angeles, such a deal could bring back a second-round asset while preserving roster flexibility.
The Lakers selected Bronny with the 55th overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and have gradually expanded his role.
After spending time in the G League early in his career, he made significant strides during his second season, improving his efficiency from the field and beyond the arc.
Bronny appeared in 42 regular-season games in 2025-26 and became part of the regular rotation after injuries to Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
He averaged 5.6 points while shooting 35.7% from three over the final 10 games of the regular season and later played in eight playoff contests.
If the Lakers retain him, Bronny is expected to battle Collin Sexton, Cameron Carr and Jaden Hardy for backup guard minutes next season.
