Draymond Green has offered a pointed reflection on the recent leadership shift inside the Philadelphia 76ers, after the franchise moved on from Daryl Morey and installed Bob Myers to oversee basketball operations.

The comments arrive in the aftermath of a front-office change that saw Myers placed in charge of basketball decision-making, with the organization transitioning away from Morey following another early playoff exit.

Green framed the situation through a historical basketball comparison while discussing Myers’ track record against Morey’s postseason outcomes.

“Bob Myers has been to Daryl Morey almost what Michael Jordan was to Stockton and Malone,” Green said on The Draymond Green Show, via HoopsHype. “You’ve done great work. I mean, I’m not saying Daryl Morey is Stockton or Malone, but you’ll get the reference in a second. You’ve done some great work, right?”

He expanded on Morey’s résumé across multiple stops in the league, pointing to roster construction and major acquisitions.

“You traded for James Harden when nobody believed, gave him a max contract, and then James Harden proceeded to become who he became. You built a team with the Houston Rockets that was a very good roster, built to beat the Golden State Warriors. It didn’t quite happen, but you built a good team.”

Green also referenced Morey’s later tenure in Philadelphia and the continued search for a breakthrough postseason result.

“You go to Philly and sign Tyrese Maxey to a max deal, right? He’s done some good things in Philly, just can’t quite get over the hump. And Bob Myers — Daryl Morey couldn’t get over the hump due to teams that Bob Myers was putting together.”

He further addressed the organizational transition and repeated postseason outcomes that preceded Morey’s departure.

“And now Daryl Morey is going to lose his role as the president of basketball operations due to Bob Myers making the basketball decisions in Philly. He’s more than capable, well-deserved, and should be making basketball decisions anywhere.”

Green added that the recurring playoff narrative shaped his overall assessment of the situation.

“But Daryl Morey just kind of keeps running into Bob Myers, and it’s unfortunate.”

The comments come as the 76ers attempt to reset after finishing the 2025-26 regular season 45-37 and reaching the Eastern Conference Semifinals, where they were eliminated after a sweep against the New York Knicks following a first-round win over the Boston Celtics.

Philadelphia’s roster construction and long-term direction remain central to Myers’ early evaluation process, particularly with key financial commitments and draft assets in place. Green’s remarks underline how postseason matchups and executive decisions have shaped the franchise’s recent trajectory.

As the organization begins its next chapter under Myers’ oversight, the focus now shifts toward roster refinement, draft positioning, and determining the next permanent leader to guide the front office.
