Steve Kerr shared more details about why he decided to remain head coach of the Golden State Warriors, saying conversations with his wife, Margot, played a major role in the decision-making process.
Kerr also revealed that he spoke extensively with general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. and owner Joe Lacob about the direction of the franchise and the current state of the roster.
While acknowledging that the Warriors are not currently built to seriously contend for a championship, the strategist said the organization still believes the team can remain competitive moving forward.
“The idea is let’s see how good we can be next year,” Kerr said. “We think we can still be good.”
The coach added that Golden State will need healthier players, roster improvements, and internal adjustments in order to bounce back after missing the playoffs.
“We have to get some guys back from injury. We have to make some moves. I have to do some things,” Kerr said.
Despite the disappointing season, Kerr made it clear he remains optimistic about another run with the organization.
“Let’s run it back and see how good we can be. I think we’re all excited about that.”
