France eventually earned an 84-69 victory over Sweden, but the performance was far from perfect, particularly on the offensive end.
The French team endured a difficult night from beyond the arc and at one point had converted only three of its first 26 three-point attempts.
Victor Wembanyama initially responded to the poor shooting with some humor.
“Poor shooting, yes, but I was 1-for-1,” he said with a laugh.
The Spurs star then offered a more serious assessment, acknowledging that France remains a young group still learning how to function together.
Wembanyama also accepted some responsibility for the confusion on offense.
“I think it just shows how young we are as a group and that we’re still trying to find our way. There was quite a bit of confusion in what we were doing, and some of that was my fault, because I was doing certain things without necessarily letting my teammates know or putting them in the best positions.
“We talked at halftime, and things improved. This is only the beginning. These are guys who are used to making shots and weren’t very accurate today. It happens, and things can only get better.”
Despite the problems, France found a way to pull away and finish the international window with another victory.
