As part of the deal, Minnesota is trading Randle along with the No. 28 overall pick in the NBA Draft to the Nets.
In return, the Timberwolves will receive Brooklyn’s No. 33 pick, creating additional financial flexibility moving forward.
The move allows Minnesota to clear the remaining two years of Randle’s contract from its books, giving the front office more room to retain key players such as Ayo Dosunmu and utilize available roster-building exceptions.
Brooklyn uses its cap space to acquire a proven veteran in Randle, adding a three-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA forward while also receiving a first-round draft pick.
Meanwhile, the Bulls address a need in the frontcourt by landing Claxton.
Chicago is taking on an athletic, defensive-minded center while still maintaining approximately $30 million in cap space for additional moves this offseason.
