The World Cup knockout stages begin as co-hosts Canada travel to Los Angeles to face South Africa.
Lando Norris will see if he can top the podium at the Austrian Grand Prix for a second straight year, while Kimi Antonelli aims for his sixth win of the Formula One season.
Elsewhere, Wakefield take on Huddersfield in the Betfred Super League, and the Paris Diamond league is going ahead with an adapted event as the French capital swelters in a record-breaking heatwave.
Co-hosts Canada seek to make more World Cup history
World Cup co-hosts Canada are hoping to write a new chapter in their history books when they travel to Los Angeles to face South Africa in the last 32.
Jesse Marsch’s men had hoped to be playing Canada’s first-ever World Cup knockout match at home in Vancouver, but that dream was dashed after they were defeated by Switzerland in their final group game, finishing runners-up in Group B.
It may finally be time for a first World Cup appearance from Canada’s captain, Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies, who has been recovering from a hamstring issue and was on the bench as a “decoy”, according to his boss, for that loss to Switzerland.
Coverage begins on ITV from 19:15.
Norris looks for double delight in Austria
Last year, Lando Norris became the first man in five years not named Max Verstappen to claim pole position in Austria, and followed that up with victory at the Red Bull Ring.
The Briton might have his eye on double delight in Spielberg, but Lewis Hamilton remains Kimi Antonelli’s nearest contender in the title race, and will do his best to reel in the Italian teenager, who is four wins and 41 points clear at the top of the drivers’ standings.
It all starts at 13:55 on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports F1.
Diamond League going ahead despite French heatwave
Sunday’s Paris Diamond League meeting will go ahead in an “adapted format” despite an “exceptional heatwave” after organisers confirmed they have reached an agreement with the city’s police.
On Friday morning, the Prefecture de Police issued a statement saying they had asked organisers of several scheduled events, including the athletics competition, to cancel due to the ongoing “red alert” measures implemented in response to record-breaking temperatures.
Only events involving professional athletes will be staged, while the schedule has been adjusted, including a delayed gate opening time, alongside other steps to protect athletes, staff and spectators.
Switzerland’s Audrey Werro is hoping to break the near 43-year-old women’s 800m world record before British Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson, and has confirmed she will attempt it again in Paris.
She is coming head-to-head with the Netherlands’ Femke Broeders-Bol for just the second time this season.
BBC Two has coverage beginning at 17:00.
