Dubai Basketball continued reshaping its roster for the 2026-27 season on Friday by announcing the signing of American guard Davion Mintz to a multi-year contract following his standout campaign with Wurzburg Baskets in Germany.
The 28-year-old arrives after establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most productive backcourt players. Dubai highlighted Mintz’s scoring versatility and perimeter shooting as key reasons behind the move, adding another offensive weapon to a team entering its second EuroLeague season under new head coach Xavi Pascual.
Mintz averaged 16.4 points, 3.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists across 31 German League games last season. He maintained that production during the playoffs, posting 15.0 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while helping Wurzburg remain competitive in the postseason.
His impact extended beyond domestic competition. In 14 Basketball Champions League appearances, Mintz averaged 15.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists, demonstrating consistent scoring against international opposition. Across all competitions with Wurzburg, he averaged 16.2 points while shooting 44.6% from the field, 42.0% from three-point range and 83.5% from the free-throw line.
Mintz’s professional journey has taken him through multiple leagues since leaving college. After playing at Creighton before transferring to Kentucky, he finished his NCAA career with averages of 7.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists across 153 games while making 171 three-pointers.
Although he went undrafted in 2022, Mintz signed with the Washington Wizards and spent two seasons developing with the Capital City Go-Go in the NBA G League. He later played briefly for Metros de Santiago in the Dominican Republic before moving to Europe with Belgian club Filou Oostende. His career took another step forward after joining Wurzburg in February 2025, where he developed into one of the Bundesliga’s most reliable offensive guards.
Mintz becomes the latest addition in an eventful offseason for Dubai Basketball. The club has already hired former EuroLeague-winning coach Xavi Pascual while strengthening its roster with the signings of Jaron Blossomgame and Elie Okobo.
Those additions follow several notable departures, including Nate Mason, Bruno Caboclo, Taran Armstrong, Matt Ryan, Boogie Ellis and Aleksa Avramovic, who left on loan.
Dubai finished its second EuroLeague campaign with a 19-19 record, placing 11th in the regular-season standings and narrowly missing the play-in tournament. The club featured balanced scoring last season, led by Dwayne Bacon’s 15.1 points per game, while Dzanan Musa averaged 14.5 points and Mfiondu Kabengele contributed 13.3 points and 5.5 rebounds.
