
St Michael’s Foilmore were victorious in the Novice Club Football Championship final.
They defeated Scartaglen 1-14 to 1-13 at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney.
A 7th minute goal gave Scartaglen a 1-3 to 0-2 lead. St Michael’s Foilmore goaled to put the minimum between the sides at the 1/4 hour stage. St Michael’s Foilmore led by 2 at 1-6 to 1-4 in the closing minutes of the half. Scartaglen halved the deficit before the break but a point from a free after the hooter meant it was 1-7 to 1-5 at the short whistle.
It was 1-8 each after 39 minutes. After Scartaglen went 1 in front a Kevin Griffin 2 pointer had St Michael’s Foilmore ahead. St Michael’s Foilmore led by 2 at the 3/4 stage. They went 3 in front. Scartaglen cut the deficit to 2 at 1-12 to 1-10. Cormac Walsh’s 2 pointer brought the game level with 4 minutes to go. Luke McShane pointed Scartaglen ahead heading towards the final minute. Inside the final minute St Michael’s Foilmore player Matt O’Sullivan had a fantastic two pointer to give his side the win.
