Fossa crowned Intermediate champions

The Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Club Football Championship final has been won by Fossa.


At Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney they defeated Kilcummin by 26 points to 22.

It was a point each after 5 minutes, Kilcummin going 1 in front after 8 minutes. After Fossa equalised a Paul O’Shea 2 pointer had Kilcummin ahead 4 to 2 after 10 minutes. Another Paul O’Shea 2 pointer had his side in front by 7 points to 4. Ten minutes from half time Kilcummin held a 10 points to 6 advantage. Kilcummin led 11 to 8 after 26 minutes. A Paudie Clifford two pointer cut the gap to 1 in the closing minute of the half. At the break it was 12 points to 10.

Fossa started the second half much better. A Paudie Clifford point was followed by 2 David Clifford two pointers. That gave Fossa a 3 point advantage. When David Clifford registered another two pointer after 44 minutes Fossa were ahead by 20 points to 16. It was a 2 point game with ten minutes to go at 21 points to 19. Fossa went 3 clear. Back to back Kilcummin points made it a 1 point game. However, yet another David Clifford 2 pointer-his 5th of the final-gave Fossa a 3 point advantage once more. It stood at 24 points to 21. The gap was also 3 points with 2 minutes to go, at 25 points to 22. David Clifford’s point from a free was the insurance score.
