Nemanja Nedovic has spoken openly about his departure from Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade and shared his thoughts on Luca Vildoza’s controversial move across Belgrade this offseason during an appearance on the Kole Point Playbook podcast.
The veteran guard left Zvezda for AS Monaco last summer despite having signed a two-year contract with the Serbian club only weeks earlier.
Looking back, Nedovic said the situation changed quickly and criticized the way it was handled.
“Something changed in June, within a month. Everything would have been fine if they had just told me ‘we are thinking in another direction, thank you for everything’. Instead, they were telling me one story and doing otherwise,” he said.
Nedovic also made it clear that he has no intention of returning to Zvezda during the remainder of his playing career.
“It is not an option this year for me to return to Red Star. If someone shows you even a tiny bit of disrespect once, they will do it a second time. As far as my playing career is concerned, a return to Red Star is a finished story,” he added.
The 35-year-old also commented on Luca Vildoza’s decision to join Partizan after previously representing Crvena Zvezda, a move that sparked mixed reactions among Serbian basketball fans.
Rather than criticizing Vildoza, Nedovic defended the Argentine’s decision.
“He is a foreign player, he plays basketball, he never stayed anywhere for long. Fans may have been hurt, but I don’t see it as a tragedy,” he said.
