Veteran guard Patty Mills is still expected to sign with LDLC ASVEL despite the financial problems that have disrupted the French club’s offseason plans, according to BeBasket.

ASVEL recently slashed its projected budget from €59 million to approximately €24 million after failing to secure approval for a major investment partner. The financial setback has already led to significant roster changes.

Sylvain Francisco departed before ever appearing for the club after Panathinaikos paid his buyout, while Armoni Brooks is also expected to move on despite agreeing to join ASVEL earlier this summer.

Mills, however, is reportedly committed to joining Tony Parker’s team.

A key factor in that decision is believed to be the long-standing relationship between the two former San Antonio Spurs teammates, who won the 2014 NBA championship together.

The 37-year-old Australian is coming off an outstanding season with Tenerife, where he averaged 18.1 points per game in the Spanish League.

He also produced standout performances with 36 points against Barcelona and 29 in Tenerife’s memorable playoff victory over Real Madrid.
