
Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks delivered massive television and digital audiences, becoming the most-watched Finals Game 3 since 1998.
According to Nielsen data, the broadcast averaged 23.8 million viewers across ABC and ESPN, with viewership peaking at 26.3 million late in the game.
The matchup also produced the highest measured share ever for an NBA game and ranked as the most-watched television program since the Super Bowl.
San Antonio’s 115-111 victory cut New York’s series lead to 2-1 and helped generate significant interest around the Finals.
Fan engagement has also surged online. The series has produced more than 5 billion social media views through three games, setting a new NBA Finals record for that stage of a series.
In addition, Google searches related to the NBA Finals, the Knicks, and the Spurs have all reached record levels.
