LeBron James has reportedly made one thing clear as he weighs his free agency options: his next decision will be driven by happiness.
That has left plenty of room for speculation, but ESPN’s Shams Charania offered more clarity during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
Charania said Golden State’s reluctance to meet the cost of acquiring Anthony Davis has effectively ended the Warriors’ hopes of pairing Davis with James.
“Sources tell me LeBron James… [is] not waiting for another domino right now. They’re not waiting for Anthony Davis to get traded anywhere,” Charania said.
He added that the remaining contenders are already in place.
“The teams – Cleveland, Miami, Golden State, Philadelphia, and Minnesota, they’re set,” Charania added.
According to Charania, James has consistently based his decision on three priorities.
“LeBron James was very clear from the very beginning: This is going to be based on happiness – in terms of chances to contend for a championship, a chance to compete at a high level, [and] join a culture,” he continued.
