The Dallas Mavericks are scarier than ever, especially in Luka Doncic’s early years.
Before Kristaps Porzingis was sent to the Washington Wizards, the big man had a huge role with the Mavericks alongside Doncic.
However, the 7-foot-2 Latvian center opened up the elephant in the room during his Dallas stint, which revolves around individual maturity.
“It’s a big mix of things. Maturity for sure. I’m talking about what I could have done better. It’s many things, the majority on my part. I wasn’t that much into analytics and numbers,” Porzingis said, via OldManAndThree.
The Mavericks are full of young talent, but lack experience during that time, although a bright future may come when they remain together.
Porzingis said that experiences have made him regret the potential of the franchise back then.
“If somebody at that stage of my career, presented it to me the right way and said, ‘This is what we need to do. This is what we need from you. You’re going to be way more effective doing this,’ and explained it to me better, that would have made a difference,” he said.
The 31-year-old center concluded that a lack of communication and maturity has failed them despite having so much talent, like NBA champion Jalen Brunson on their team.
“I could have done some things better. It didn’t come out the way all of us envisioned, but I definitely learned a lot from that. I think we both tried to make it work. I think communication and maturity on both of our parts should have been better,” Porzingis added.
