Tension around Kevin Durant of the Houston Rockets increased during the All-Star break after a social media account believed to be linked to him posted criticism of teammates Alperen Sengun and Jabari Smith Jr..
The posts also targeted former teammates Devin Booker and Stephen Curry, as well as head coach Steve Kerr.
Durant dismissed the situation as “Twitter nonsense,” but sources indicated the organization took it seriously and believed he was connected to the account.
He later addressed the matter internally in what was described as an open team discussion rather than a formal meeting.
“I’ve heard that there were a couple people who were bothered by what he said on the burner account but none of them were in our locker room,” a team source said.
“I think Kevin might’ve been worried about it being a distraction to the team. But literally no one cared about it. The guys [he] mentioned are not sensitive about stuff said about them online.”
