Before the Portland Trail Blazers’ Game 1 on Sunday, Jerami Grant had not appeared in a playoff game since the NBA’s 2019/20 “bubble” season.
Now back on that stage, he expressed how much he values competing at that level again, according to Marc J. Spears of Andscape.
“I miss the playoffs so much,” Grant said at the end of the regular season. “It’s been a long time. Unbelievable. I can never get accustomed to it.”
That return didn’t go as hoped for Portland’s veteran group in their Game 1 loss to the Spurs, as both Jrue Holiday and Grant struggled offensively, combining to shoot just 6-of-21 from the field.
Grant acknowledged his own performance afterward.
“I didn’t play great,” the player said, per Joe Freeman of The Oregonian. “There wasn’t really a lot of opportunity out there, but I didn’t play great.
“I think we’ve all got to be better, make some shots, figure out where we are going to get our shots and just try to execute the game plan better.”
