Evan Fournier finally reached the top of European basketball last season, helping Olympiacos capture the EuroLeague championship while earning Final Four MVP honors.
The achievement came one year after Olympiacos fell short at the 2025 Final Four. Fournier enjoyed the celebrations that followed, but his attention has already shifted toward another title pursuit.
“It was a summer full of traveling, discovering places, full of energy, people thanking us. So, it was amazing,” Fournier described.
Despite entering the new campaign as defending champions, Fournier does not want Olympiacos approaching the season as though they remain above everyone else.
“We’re going to see,” Fournier said on defending the title. “We did win the championship last year, but it’s a new page, a new team. Every team feels like they have a shot at winning this year. I don’t think we are on top of the mountain. We were last year, but it’s a new year.”
For Fournier, another championship pursuit requires Olympiacos to forget its previous success and begin the process again.
“We are at the bottom of the mountain, and we have to make that climb all together,” he added. “To me, we’re still hunting.”
