Panathinaikos head coach Ergin Ataman expressed strong frustration with the officiating following the game, focusing on the disparity in free-throw attempts between the two sides.
During the postgame press conference, Ataman pointed to the numbers on the stat sheet before criticizing the referees’ performance.
“Result is 82 – 76. No, result is 29 – 5 free throws.”
The veteran coach then took aim at media criticism he has received throughout the season, sarcastically referencing narratives about both himself and European officiating.
“Greek media, Serbian media, continue writing the same: Ataman is the worst coach in Europe and you have the best refs in the continent.”
After delivering his remarks, Ataman slammed his hand on the table and abruptly left the press conference.
