LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne has signed Nate Sestina to a one-year contract, adding the 29-year-old forward to a roster undergoing significant changes after finishing last in the 2025-26 EuroLeague regular season.
Sestina, who stands 2.03 meters, played for Valencia Basket and Olimpia Milano last season. He appeared in three EuroLeague games for Valencia, averaging 2.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.0 assist, before moving to Milano, where he averaged 3.1 points and 0.8 rebounds in 10 appearances.
His 2025-26 season was limited by injury, but Sestina arrives at ASVEL with previous experience in both the EuroLeague and EuroCup. He played 28 EuroLeague games for Fenerbahce in 2023-24, averaging 2.8 points and 1.3 rebounds in 10.0 minutes per game as the Turkish club reached the Final Four.
Sestina’s strongest EuroCup season came with Turk Telekom Ankara in 2022-23. He averaged 10.8 points and 4.7 rebounds in 18 EuroCup games while shooting 39.8% from three-point range, helping the Turkish team reach the competition’s final.
He later played for Valencia in the 2024-25 EuroCup season, averaging 7.4 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 17 games. He shot 38.0% from three-point range during that campaign, while his 43.4% three-point shooting in 33 Spanish Liga ACB appearances demonstrated his perimeter role.
Sestina began his professional career with Hapoel Holon in 2020-21 before spending the 2021-22 season with Merkezefendi Basket in Turkey. He averaged 9.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in 30 domestic games for Merkezefendi before establishing himself at the continental level with Turk Telekom.
The forward spent his college career at Bucknell and Kentucky, finishing with 8.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game across 128 NCAA appearances. At Bucknell, he averaged 15.8 points and 8.5 rebounds as a senior in 2018-19 while shooting 38.0% from three.
Sestina joins an ASVEL roster that has already added Patty Mills, Joel Bolomboy, Yves Pons and Both Gach this summer. The club also recently announced Tony Parker as its new head coach, replacing Pierric Poupet.
ASVEL is rebuilding after a difficult EuroLeague campaign in which it finished 20th at 8-30.
