Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs may already be one of the NBA’s brightest stars, but he believes his best basketball is still ahead of him.
The Spurs star is coming off a remarkable season in which he averaged career highs of 25.0 points and 11.5 rebounds while leading the league with 3.1 blocks per game.
He earned First-Team All-NBA honors, became the NBA’s first unanimous Defensive Player of the Year and finished third in MVP voting while helping San Antonio reach the NBA Finals.
Even with those accomplishments, the French star insists he isn’t satisfied.
“Just like every achievement in my career, I wish it happened sooner,” said Wembanyama.
“It’s all happening very quick, but I am not satisfied and I want it to happen quicker. It’s definitely a big milestone, something good. That’s done.”
Through three seasons with the Spurs, Wembanyama has averaged 23.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.5 blocks in 181 regular-season games.
He is a two-time All-Star, Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year.
