
Oklahoma City Thunder guard and reigning Most Valuable Player Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has earned another major honor, capturing the NBA’s Clutch Player of the Year Award, the league announced.
Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a league-best 175 points in clutch situations this season, shooting 51.5% from the field across 125.1 minutes.
He also led the NBA with 52 made field goals in those moments, despite playing significantly fewer clutch minutes than Nuggets guard Jamal Murray, who finished second with 166 points.
He consistently came through in key moments, leading the league with 16 go-ahead field goals in the final five minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime.
That included a game-winning step-back three-pointer against Denver on March 9.
As a team, the Thunder posted a 124.5 offensive rating and a 23.8 net rating in clutch time, both ranking second in the league, while compiling a 24-10 record in those games.
