Barcelona announced that Xavi Pascual will step down as head coach once the season ends after deciding to trigger the release clause in his contract, despite having an agreement with the club through 2028.
The move will close Pascual’s second chapter on Barcelona’s bench, though the organization stressed that the focus remains on ending the campaign successfully and continuing the push for the ACB League championship.
The veteran Spanish coach had already been linked with a move to Dubai Basketball, with reports earlier this month indicating that talks between the sides were progressing quickly.
Although his second stint lasted less than a full season, Pascual managed to keep Barcelona competitive both domestically and in Europe, leading the club to the EuroLeague play-in and maintaining a top-four position in the Spanish league standings.
His history with Barcelona remains one of the most successful in club history, highlighted by the 2010 EuroLeague title, four Liga ACB championships and three Copa del Rey victories.
