Victor Wembanyama has added another milestone to his rapidly growing résumé. ESPN’s Shams Charania reported Friday that the San Antonio Spurs superstar has agreed to a new long-term contract extension with Nike that includes the launch of his own signature shoe line.
The endorsement deal comes after a remarkable first three NBA seasons in which Wembanyama established himself as one of the league’s premier two-way players. The 22-year-old has now reached the NBA Finals, finished as an MVP finalist, won Defensive Player of the Year, signed a maximum contract extension with the Spurs and secured a signature sneaker deal with Nike.
Wembanyama is coming off the best season of his young career. In 2025-26, he averaged 25.0 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 blocks and 3.1 assists while shooting 51.2% from the field across 64 games. His production earned him his first Defensive Player of the Year award, First Team All-NBA honors, First Team All-Defense recognition and a third-place finish in MVP voting.
His impact extended well beyond individual accolades. Led by Wembanyama, the Spurs finished 62-20, the second-best record in the Western Conference, before advancing to the NBA Finals. San Antonio defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder in a seven-game Western Conference Finals before falling to the New York Knicks in five games in the championship series.
The French center has made steady improvements every season since entering the league as the No. 1 overall pick in 2023. He averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.6 blocks while winning Rookie of the Year in 2023-24, followed by 24.3 points and 11.0 rebounds in an injury-shortened 2024-25 campaign. Through 181 career games, Wembanyama owns career averages of 23.4 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 3.5 assists.
The Nike agreement follows another significant offseason commitment between Wembanyama and the Spurs. Earlier this summer, he agreed to a five-year, $252 million maximum contract extension. Reports indicated Wembanyama accepted less than the projected supermax value, giving San Antonio greater long-term financial flexibility as it prepares for future extensions for Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper.
The signature shoe announcement further elevates Wembanyama’s profile as one of basketball’s biggest global stars. Signature sneaker lines have traditionally been reserved for the NBA’s elite, and Nike’s long-term commitment reflects both Wembanyama’s accomplishments and his marketability just three seasons into his professional career.
