Tyran Stokes, the nation’s top-ranked senior and a projected No. 1 pick in the 2027 NBA Draft, announced Tuesday that he will join the Kansas Jayhawks men’s basketball.
The 6-foot-7 forward out of Rainier Beach High School chose Kansas over the Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball after a lengthy recruiting battle.
Head coach Bill Self now lands another elite prospect, following Darryn Peterson, giving Kansas a chance at back-to-back No. 1 overall picks.
Stokes also joins five-star guard Taylen Kinney in a highly ranked 2026 class.
Kentucky, led by Mark Pope, was considered the early favorite, but Kansas surged late to secure the commitment.
