REAL MADRID have confirmed a major injury to a two-time Champions League winner, which has reportedly left the star considering retirement at the age of 30.
Amidst the chaos the Spanish giants are currently going through, including the hospitalisation of Federico Valverde following a fight with Aurelien Tchouameni, earlier this week they were hit with a fresh blow to Ferland Mendy.

The left-back has been plagued by injury throughout the season, seeing him play just nine games all season.
He had returned to the team in their last two La Liga games, but suffered a setback after being subbed off in the 14th minute against Espanyol.
Mendy was then diagnosed with a tendon injury in the rectus femoris of his right leg, where he had previously had a surgery for the same issue in 2025 and left him out for six months.
Initial reports suggested surgery on the injury would leave him sidelined for five months.

However, Spanish journalist Miguel Angel Diaz has reported Mendy’s issue could actually be far worse than first feared.
Diaz reports in Cope that the injury is actually a torn tendon with bone separation, which leaves him facing a YEAR on the sidelines.
Mendy is due to undergo surgery in France on Monday.
But the report indicates that if it does not go well, the Frenchman is considering hanging up his boots.

Mendy, who joined Real from Lyon for an initial £41.5million in 2019, is out of contract with the Bernabeu outfit in 2028.
He has played a total of 210 games for Los Blancos, scoring six goals.
But unfortunately, since heading to the Spanish capital, he has suffered an incredible 20 injuries which has seen him miss a whopping 120 games.
In that time he has lifted the Champions League twice, in 2022 and 2024, as well as three La Liga titles, the 2023 Copa del Rey, three Supercopas de Espana and the Uefa Super Cup twice.
