Spurs rookie Dylan Harper and Knicks guard Jordan Clarkson were known for Filipino genes and are about to proudly represent it on the championship stage.

While Harper scored 12 points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench in the San Antonio Spurs’ Game 7 win over the Oklahoma CIty Thunder in the Western Conference Finals, Harper extended his proud moment for being a Filipino during the post-game interview.

“I think my focus is on these next games, this next series. Obviously, it’s a blessing to represent the Philippines, where I’m from,” the reigning No. 2 pick of last year’s NBA Draft told reporters.

Harper also recognized Jordan Clarkson as his co-Filipino who will also compete in the Finals, and the ones who took pride in their roots.

“I think me and Jordan Clarkson are doing a great job doing that. My biggest thing is to focus on what’s in front of me.”

Roots

Dylan’s father is NBA star and five time champion Ron Harper, while his mother Maria Pizarro is a Filipina from Bataan, Philippines.

On the other hand, Clarkson is also a Filipino because of his maternal grandmother, and also played for the Philippine National team in FIBA.
