LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne head coach and president Tony Parker has rejected reports suggesting that the French club has been prohibited from registering new players due to an unresolved financial dispute with former center Joffrey Lauvergne.

Eurohoops reported Thursday that ASVEL still owed the current Partizan big man approximately €300,000 after allegedly missing two consecutive installments under a previous payment agreement.

The report also indicated that Lauvergne had returned the matter to the Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT), resulting in a player registration ban against the French organization.

However, Parker disputed those claims in a statement provided to BeBasket, explaining that proceedings remain ongoing and that no disciplinary measures have been imposed on ASVEL.

“The club is taking note of the requests and claims made by Joffrey Lauvergne through the press,” Parker stated.

“As a reminder, the club and the player jointly agreed to end their contractual agreement early, with an indemnity paid to the player as of June 30, 2025. EuroLeague is requesting additional information, which the club is in the process of providing,” he added.

Parker further emphasized that ASVEL remains in communication with EuroLeague and is working to clarify the circumstances surrounding the dispute.

“In the current state of the ongoing proceedings, no sanction has been taken, and no recruiting ban has been issued against ASVEL. The club is in contact with EuroLeague to provide all the information needed to resolve this situation.”
