Following Real Madrid’s 98–95 overtime victory over Dubai Basketball in the EuroLeague Super Cup, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot reflected on his team’s performance, the confidence he has received from his new teammates, and the challenge that awaits against Olympiacos.
Luwawu-Cabarrot first spoke about how quickly he has settled into the team and the confidence he has received from his teammates:
“I’m pretty good, I feel like the team embraced me, embraced the game, embraced the way I play. You know, they give me
a lot of confidence, just pushing me to be the great player I can be. And hopefully I can give them back what I can.”
He then looked ahead to the opportunity to compete for the title, while highlighting the challenge of facing Olympiacos:
“This is the first official game of the season and now we have a chance to win the title. So it’s amazing. Hopefully we can have the same outcome against Olympiacos. But it’s going to be tough. Olympiacos is a great team, they know each other for a while, but also they have some new players. They won last year, they have a great coach and great players, so it’s going to be more physical, but we need to stay true to our game.”
Finally, Luwawu-Cabarrot praised the overall level of the team and the contributions coming from different players:
“Yeah, I think everyone looks great. We have a lot of guys that play well. Hopefully we can play similar games tomorrow and in the future.“
