Kerry’s under-16 pitch and putt players enjoyed a successful weekend on the national stage in Bruff, County Limerick.
Deerpark’s Fionn McMonagle was crowned National Boys Under-16 champion.
He finished tied on nine-under-par with Fermoy’s Conor Ronan, before winning a nine-hole playoff by two shots.
McMonagle then helped Kerry to silver in the Under-16 Inter-County event.
The Kerry team of Fionn McMonagle, Aodhan O’Halloran, Daniel Quinlan and Joey Blake finished on 19-under-par, five shots behind winners Cork.
There was also national success for Listowel’s Eoin Barrett, who won the Helen McMorrow Cup in the Boys Under-13 singles.
Barrett finished on four-under-par, one shot clear of the field.
Listowel’s Shona Griffin also reached the podium, finishing third in the girls’ event.
This weekend, Kerry’s adult teams are in Munster Inter-County action in Riverdale, Nenagh.
Kerry will be represented in the Senior Men’s, Intermediate Men’s, Junior Men’s and Ladies competitions.
The Kerry Under-16 team is supported by Sewell’s Pharmacy Killarney.
Meanwhile, Tralee will now host October’s National Scotch Foursomes event, after Castleisland had to withdraw as hosts due to the recent impact of weather on the course.
