Golden State Warriors guard Steph Curry will not play in Sunday’s preseason matchup against the Los Angeles Lakers, head coach Steve Kerr confirmed. Kerr said Curry is “a little banged up” but the team is not concerned about his status.
Curry, who has averaged 12.5 points across two preseason games, is expected to return for Tuesday’s game in Portland.
The Warriors are currently 2–0 in the preseason after victories over the Lakers and Trail Blazers. Curry scored 14 points in the opener against Los Angeles and 11 against Portland.
Despite Curry’s absence, Golden State’s rotation will rely on players like Moses Moody and Jonathan Kuminga to maintain offensive output. In the first two games, Moody scored 19 points against the Lakers, while Kuminga contributed with five rebounds in both outings.
Sunday’s game will give the Warriors an opportunity to test other lineup combinations and bench depth without their star guard.
The Lakers, who are still adjusting rotations due to LeBron James’ absence, will face a Warriors squad without Curry for the first time this preseason. Both teams are using these early games to finalize strategies and assess player fitness ahead of the 2025–26 season opener.
