Southampton are awaiting the result of an appeal over their expulsion from the Championship play-off final due to Spygate.
Saints had beaten Middlesbrough 2-1 on aggregate in the semi-finals but Boro will now face Hull in the showpiece at Wembley on Saturday after the south coast club admitted multiple breaches of Football League regulations.
They said they were guilty of unauthorised filming of other clubs’ training sessions and have been hit with a four-point deduction, applicable to next season’s Championship, as well as expulsion from the play-offs, by an independent disciplinary commission.
Southampton immediately appealed the severity of the punishment, with the hearing over their fate to take place on Wednesday.
