FANS have been left fuming after Sky Sports interviewed Kieran Trippier while there was still five minutes to play between Newcastle and West Ham.
While half-time interviews have angered some supporters, this took it to a new level, as Sky Sports showed the interview instead of the late stages of relegation-threatened West Ham’s crucial clash.
Trippier, who is leaving the club at the end of this season after 4½ seasons in the North East, was met with a huge ovation by St James’ Park after being subbed off.
Moments later, the camera cut to Sky Sports reporter Johnny Phillips interviewing the ex-England right-back while the game was still going on.
Fans took to X to vent their frustration with the broadcaster.
A first wrote: “Every fan got fed up of Sky Sports doing the half time interviews. Sky responded and stopped. And now they’ve just interviewed Kieran Trippier 5 minutes before the game has finished with both teams nearly scoring during the interview?!?”

A second said: “That Trippier interview mid-game was tragic btw.”
A third posted: “Just wait till the games finished to interview Trippier. Proper woke nonsense that.”
While a fourth wrote: “What on earth are Sky doing with this Trippier interview. The game is still happening, just wait 10 minutes and ask him then.”
Trippier’s Newcastle beat strugglers West Ham 3-1 on Sunday afternoon as time continues to run out for Nuno Espirito Santo‘s team.

Following their third defeat in a row, they remain 18th, two points adrift of Tottenham with a significantly inferior goal-difference.

Tottenham face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, hoping to secure Premier League safety.
Only a Chelsea win would give the Hammers hope on the final day as they host Leeds United, while Spurs play at home to Everton.
