Joe Freeman of The Oregonian also reviewed the seasons of Yang Hansen, who recently completed his rookie campaign with the Portland Trail Blazers, and third-year forward Kris Murray, who is entering the final season of his rookie contract.
While Hansen continues to develop after being selected in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, league scouts reportedly expressed much greater concern about Murray’s future role with the organization.
One scout questioned where Murray realistically fits on the court and suggested Portland may need to eventually move on.
“I just don’t understand what they’re doing with him,” the scout said. “I think this is a kid they just missed on.”
The evaluator also raised concerns about Murray’s positional fit, explaining that he may not have the skill set necessary to consistently play on the wing.
“Is he a power forward? Is he a small forward? He probably needs to be a small forward, but he can’t do that.”
The scout finished by suggesting the Trail Blazers should consider parting ways with the former first-round pick altogether.
“I would just try to move on from this kid, to be honest.”
