Real Madrid delivered one of its most complete EuroLeague performances of the season, defeating Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet Belgrade 103–82 at Movistar Arena on Thursday, April 16. The regular-season finale doubled as a high-profile event with Luka Doncic and Novak Djokovic in attendance.
Doncic, currently with the Los Angeles Lakers and recovering in Spain, followed the game courtside alongside Djokovic, who is a well-known supporter of Crvena Zvezda. Their presence added extra attention to an already decisive matchup between two playoff-positioning teams.
Real Madrid controlled large stretches of the game through efficiency in the paint, ball movement, and transition scoring. The home side finished with 27 made two-point shots at 73.0% and 22-of-24 from the free-throw line.
Crvena Zvezda started strongly behind Jordan Nwora, who scored 11 early points to give the visitors a 14–10 advantage. The Serbian club also opened the game 6-of-9 from three-point range, staying competitive through the first quarter.
The game was level at 36–36 after 13 minutes, but momentum shifted when Real increased tempo with Facundo Campazzo and Sergio Llull on the floor. An 11–2 run, capped by a Usman Garuba dunk, pushed the hosts into control.
Mario Hezonja benefited from Campazzo’s playmaking, finishing a highlight baseline dunk off a no-look assist. Real entered halftime with growing control of both pace and possession.
A key swing came in the third quarter, where Llull hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer that lifted Real’s lead further. The moment marked another turning point in a period where the Spanish side extended its advantage through defensive stops and transition points.
Crvena Zvezda struggled to maintain early shooting efficiency and finished the game 18 turnovers. The visitors also shot 16-of-43 on two-point attempts, limiting their ability to respond inside the arc.
Real Madrid, in contrast, closed the game with 25 assists and only 12 turnovers. The team’s defensive structure also limited second-chance opportunities and forced contested perimeter shots.
Campazzo emphasized the importance of improvement moving forward. He pointed to both home and road performances as areas for continued development ahead of the next stage of competition.
With a 17–1 home record in EuroLeague play and a 14-game winning streak at Movistar Arena, Real Madrid now enters the postseason in strong form. The result positions the club among the leading contenders heading into the playoffs phase.
