The New Orleans Pelicans have waived forward Caleb Houstan as the franchise continues adjusting its roster ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season.
According to the NBA’s official transaction log, New Orleans has parted ways with the 23-year-old Canadian, who joined the team on a one-year Exhibit 9 training camp contract in early August.
Houstan has four seasons of NBA experience, having previously played for the Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks.
Across 186 career appearances, the 6-foot-8 forward has averaged 3.9 points in 13.4 minutes per game.
Known primarily for his outside shooting, Houstan has converted 37.8% of his career three-point attempts.
However, he struggled to make an impact during his brief preseason stint with New Orleans, averaging just 1.5 points in 10.7 minutes across two appearances.
His next destination remains uncertain following his departure from the Pelicans.

Because Houstan’s contract did not include Exhibit 10 provisions, he is not an obvious candidate to join New Orleans’ G League affiliate, the Laketown Squadron.
The former second-round draft pick will now look for another opportunity to continue his professional career.
