Olympiacos Piraeus has strengthened its frontline by signing Mbaye Ndiaye from LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne on a two-year contract. The move adds a 2.04-meter defensive big to the reigning EuroLeague champion after the departure of forward Alec Peters in free agency.
Ndiaye, 27, spent the past three seasons with ASVEL and appeared in 68 EuroLeague games. He averaged 7.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 1.2 steals and 1.4 blocks in 23.7 minutes over 32 EuroLeague appearances during the 2025-26 season.
His 69.7% two-point shooting ranked among his strongest offensive numbers in the competition, while his defensive production made him one of the EuroLeague’s most active frontcourt players. Ndiaye ranked second in the league in blocks and seventh in steals, making him the only player to finish inside the top 10 in both categories.
Ndiaye’s 1.4 blocks per game came alongside 1.2 steals and 1.7 offensive rebounds. He also averaged 1.3 assists and 1.4 turnovers while shooting 50.5% overall and 18.1% from three-point range.
The Senegalese big man has primarily operated as a reserve throughout his EuroLeague career. More than three-quarters of his EuroLeague appearances have come off the bench, a role that could continue with Olympiacos given the team’s existing frontcourt options.
Olympiacos finished first in the 2025-26 EuroLeague regular season with a 26-12 record and a plus-262 point differential. The Greek club then went 3-0 against Monaco, beat Fenerbahce in semi-final and defeated Real Madrid 92-85 in the final to win the EuroLeague championship.
Ndiaye joins a frontcourt that produced significant interior efficiency last season. Nikola Milutinov averaged 10.2 points and 7.2 rebounds in 21.5 minutes while shooting 66.8% from the field, while Donta Hall averaged 6.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 15.3 minutes.
The addition also gives Olympiacos another defensive option following Peters’ departure. Peters averaged 7.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 15.2 EuroLeague minutes while shooting 54.5% from the field and 41.8% from three-point range in 2025-26.
Ndiaye’s professional development began in Senegal with USG Rail before he moved to France and joined JL Bourg-en-Bresse as a teenager. After spending three seasons in Bourg’s system, primarily with its U21 team, he signed with Blois in 2020 and helped the club earn promotion from France’s second division to the top flight.
He broke into the EuroLeague with ASVEL in 2023-24, averaging 3.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 22 games. His production increased to 7.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 14 appearances in 2024-25 before reaching 7.7 points and 4.8 rebounds last season.
