Offaly hurling captain Charlie Mitchell is facing a spell on the sidelines after undergoing an emergency procedure last night.

He fell unwell following Offaly’s dramatic Leinster Hurling Championship draw with Kilkenny and was transferred from Midlands Regional Hospital in Tullamore to St James’s Hospital in Dublin.

Offaly GAA say Mitchell is now recovering well and in good form, with the county board wishing him a speedy recovery.
