Top-ranked 2028 recruit AJ Williams has announced he is reclassifying to the 2027 class after an impressive summer on the Nike EYBL circuit.
“I put in the hard work, and felt ready to accelerate the process,” Williams told ESPN. “I saw this summer, when I moved up to 17U, that I was ready to play with the 2027’s and was one of the best in their class too.”
The 6-foot-7 shooting guard from Georgia will now rank No. 7 in ESPN’s 2027 rankings after previously holding the top spot in the 2028 class.
Williams, who won gold with Team USA at the 2025 FIBA AmeriCup, is now eligible for the 2028 NBA Draft and is viewed as a potential lottery pick.
He is considering Duke, North Carolina, Auburn, BYU, UConn, Georgia, Illinois, Georgia Tech and Mississippi State.
His decision also elevates 7-foot-1 center Yann Kamagate to the No. 1 ranking in the 2028 class.
