Landry Shamet gave the New York Knicks an important boost off the bench on Friday, scoring 13 points in 30 minutes, and head coach Mike Brown made sure to recognize his efforts after the game.
The coach said Shamet’s performance was another example of why he has always believed the veteran guard deserves a larger role.
Throughout his NBA career, the player has played for several teams and often found himself moving between different situations, but Brown believes his overall value has not always been fully appreciated.
“I’m talking about his whole career because he’s been a journeyman,” Brown said.
“But he probably deserved more of an opportunity because what he does out on the floor on both ends is very hard to find in this league, especially at his size, with is mental and physical toughness.
“We gave him an opportunity and showed him we loved him. He embraced it and he ran with it.”
