Michael Porter Jr. turned to his former Denver Nuggets teammate Nikola Jokic for advice about dating a Slavic woman, but apparently did not get much help from the three-time NBA MVP.
Porter recalled asking Jokic about the best way to approach a Slavic woman during an appearance on One Night with Steiny.
“I just asked him, ‘Yo, how should I approach this? What do they like? How are Slavic women? He didn’t respond,’” Porter said.
The exchange offered a glimpse into the relationship between Porter and Jokic, who spent several seasons together in Denver before Porter was traded to the Brooklyn Nets.
Porter was selected by the Nuggets with the No. 14 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft and spent the first seven seasons of his career in Denver. He was part of the team that won the 2023 NBA championship alongside Jokic before eventually moving to Brooklyn.
The 28-year-old forward is now entering a new chapter with the Nets and has significantly raised expectations for the team heading into the 2026-27 season.
Porter believes Brooklyn can surpass 50 wins, pointing to the continued development of the young players who gained valuable experience during the previous campaign.
That prediction represents a significant jump from where Brooklyn finished last season. The Nets went 20-62 and suffered their third consecutive season with at least 50 losses.
Brooklyn has since reshaped its roster, adding Julius Randle in a four-team trade and selecting Mikel Brown Jr. with the No. 6 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. Brown averaged 18.2 points and 4.7 assists at Louisville and is expected to immediately take on a major role.
Porter is coming off a productive first season with the Nets, averaging 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds and 3.0 assists in 52 games. He shot 46.3% from the field and 36.3% from three-point range while making 3.4 three-pointers per game.
