Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. admitted that adjusting to a losing environment this season was challenging, marking the first time in his basketball career that he experienced consistent losing over an extended period.
“I never lost consistently my whole career until I got to Brooklyn,” Porter said.
“We were losing a lot. We were young. We were building something, but we’re not there yet. So it was definitely hard, bro. It definitely was hard. But I see the future with the team.”
Porter joined the Nets last offseason after being traded from the Denver Nuggets, where he spent the first portion of his NBA career competing on playoff teams.
The transition to a rebuilding situation in Brooklyn proved to be an adjustment for the veteran forward as the Nets endured another difficult season.
Despite the frustrations, Porter emphasized that he still believes in the direction of the franchise and sees long-term potential in the roster Brooklyn is building around its young core.
The Nets remain one of the youngest teams in the NBA and are continuing to focus on player development while creating future roster flexibility.
