Both the men’s and women’s singles champions eased into the second round at the US Open last night.

Aryna Sabalenka took a straight sets win over Camila Osorio at Flushing Meadows.

While Carlos Alcaraz had a spectacular return to the court after a four month injury lay-off.

He took full control against Russia’s Roman Saffiulin winning all three sets.
