Luka Doncic and the Lakers have received an enthusiastic welcome during their team trip to Slovenia.
Los Angeles traveled to Doncic’s home country for a four-day minicamp designed to combine basketball preparation with team bonding.
Nearly the entire roster made the trip, with rookie Cameron Carr the notable exception.
During a boat ride through Ljubljana, the Lakers drew plenty of attention from young supporters gathered along the water.
At one point, someone aboard the team’s boat tossed a piece of Lakers merchandise toward the fans. It missed its target and landed in the water.
That did not discourage one young supporter wearing a Doncic Lakers jersey. He immediately jumped into the canal to retrieve it.
Doncic watched the scene unfold from the boat and appeared stunned by the fan’s decision to enter the water for the item.
Swimming in the Ljubljanica is generally discouraged, even though the river and surrounding canals are commonly used for activities such as boating and paddleboarding.
