Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Doncic has reportedly filed an international petition seeking to bring his two daughters from Slovenia to the United States amid an ongoing custody dispute with his former fiancée, Anamaria Goltes.
According to The Athletic, the 27-year-old submitted the request in Slovenia under the Hague Convention, which addresses international parental access matters.
“Nothing is more important to me than my daughters,” Doncic said in a statement to The Athletic. “I will do whatever it takes to make sure they have both parents present in their lives.”
Doncic and Goltes, who became engaged in 2023, are involved in a custody dispute concerning their daughters, Gabriela and Olivia.
Goltes previously filed for child support and legal fees in Los Angeles last March before withdrawing the request.
The situation also led Doncic to skip international competition with Slovenia this summer as he continued pursuing joint custody.
“I love my daughters more than anything, and they will always come first in my life,” he wrote in an Instagram post last May. “As I continue working toward joint custody of my daughters, I have been forced to make a difficult decision between traveling and playing for the Slovenian national team and being with my daughters this summer. Unfortunately, it has been made extremely difficult for me to see them over the past eight months.”
Doncic reportedly hoped to resolve the dispute by September 25, but no agreement was reached.
He returned to Los Angeles last week for Lakers training camp, uncertain when he would next see his children.
“G+O, no matter where in the world your Dad is, there is not a day you are not in my heart. Wherever I go, they are always with me,” Doncic wrote in an Instagram post last month, translated into English. “I love you both.”
