Kristaps Porzingis took a first step toward addressing his uncertain status with the Golden State Warriors by visiting the team’s practice facility on Tuesday, according to Anthony Slater. However, the visit did not provide a clearer timetable for the center’s return to the court.

“Kristaps Porzingis did make it into the Warriors practice facility this afternoon and met with Rick Celebrini and Mike Dunleavy,” Slater reported on October 13. “Nothing more detailed about return timetable, but a first step.”

Celebrini oversees the Warriors’ performance and medical operations, while Dunleavy is the team’s general manager. Porzingis’ meeting with the two offered a sign of contact with the organization amid questions about his availability for the 2026-27 season.

The update follows a report by Danny Emerman of The San Francisco Standard that Golden State had limited information about Porzingis’ whereabouts, health situation and potential return date.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr previously confirmed that Porzingis had missed practice. Kerr said he had exchanged text messages with the Latvian big man but had not discussed his health concerns in detail.

“Yeah, we’ve texted. Seems to be doing okay, but we haven’t gotten into depth,” Kerr said. “He’s got to take care of his health, and again, we’ll support that and keep moving forward with the team.”

The Warriors have not confirmed whether Porzingis’ latest absence is connected to his previously disclosed diagnosis of postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a condition that can cause symptoms including dizziness, fatigue and an increased heart rate when standing.

Porzingis, 31, joined Golden State during the 2025-26 season after beginning the campaign with the Atlanta Hawks. He appeared in 15 games for the Warriors, averaging 16.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 23.7 minutes per game while shooting 43.3% from the field.

Across 32 games with Atlanta and Golden State, he averaged 16.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists.

Golden State agreed to a two-year, $40 million veteran extension with Porzingis on June 30, indicating the team’s commitment to keeping him beyond the season. However, uncertainty surrounding his health has left questions about when the Warriors can count on him in the lineup.

The Warriors are coming off a 37-45 season and made several moves to retain their core, including extensions for Stephen Curry and Brandin Podziemski and new agreements with Draymond Green and Al Horford.
