The New York Knicks are expected to make retaining Mitchell Robinson a priority this offseason as the veteran center prepares to enter unrestricted free agency.
Robinson is likely to attract attention from other teams around the league, but New York is reportedly planning to present him with a contract offer in an effort to keep him with the franchise.
While injuries and availability concerns have prevented Robinson from consistently establishing himself as a full-time starting center, he remains one of the NBA’s most impactful rebounders and an important part of the Knicks’ frontcourt rotation.
His presence provides valuable depth behind Karl-Anthony Towns and gives New York another proven interior defender and rebounder as the team looks to defend its championship.
The Knicks are expected to operate above the luxury-tax threshold during the 2026-27 season, signaling a willingness from ownership to continue investing heavily in a championship-caliber roster.
Robinson also holds a unique place within the organization.
Selected 36th overall in the 2018 NBA Draft, he is currently the longest-tenured player on the roster and the only remaining Knick who was with the team before the arrival of executives Leon Rose and William Wesley.
As free agency approaches, New York appears committed to trying to keep Robinson in the fold as part of its efforts to maintain the core of its title-winning roster.
